Your body is doing
something extraordinary.
Let us support it.

Neurologically-focused chiropractic care for pregnancy — Webster Technique certified, gentle throughout every trimester, and designed to help your body do what it already knows how to do.

Prepare for the birth you want

Have the birth you want.

Pregnancy asks a lot of your body — and it's remarkably capable of rising to it with the right support.

Our care focuses on pelvic balance and nervous system function, helping your body do what it's built to do: adapt, prepare, and carry you toward the birth you want. We're Webster Technique certified, with a focus on preparing your body for labor — not just managing how you feel along the way.

Dr. Joshua Burckhard, Whole Health Chiropractic

"We see pregnancy not as a condition to be managed, but as one of the most important windows of health in a family's life. That's where our care begins."

— Dr. Josh & Dr. Jess Burckhard

Trimester by trimester

What we support at
every stage of pregnancy.

Pregnancy changes your body differently in each trimester — and our care changes with it. Here's what we're paying attention to as you move through each phase.

1st Trimester

Laying the foundation as everything shifts

The first trimester is when your body begins its most dramatic hormonal changes — including the release of relaxin, which begins preparing your ligaments and joints for the months ahead. Early chiropractic care supports your pelvis and spine as they adapt to these changes, helping your body build a strong, well-functioning foundation from the very start.

2nd Trimester

Supporting comfort as your center of gravity changes

As your belly grows, your center of gravity shifts forward, changing how load moves through your spine, hips, and pelvis. This is where Webster Technique care does some of its best work — maintaining pelvic balance, supporting the uterine ligaments, and keeping your nervous system functioning at its best while your body does the extraordinary work of growing a baby.

3rd Trimester

Preparing your body — and your baby — for birth

The third trimester is when pelvic alignment matters most. A pelvis that is balanced and moving freely gives your baby the best possible environment to settle into an optimal position for birth. Webster Technique care in the third trimester has been associated with improved baby positioning and is often recommended by midwives and OBs who understand its value. We also work to ensure your body is as prepared as possible for the physical demands of labor — so you can begin that experience with everything working in your favor.

Areas we support

What we help your body
do well during pregnancy.

These aren't conditions to push through on your own. They're signals that your body could use some support — and most respond well to neurologically-focused chiropractic care.

Low back & sacral function

One of the most common areas we support in pregnancy — and one of the most responsive to chiropractic care. We look at how your pelvis and spine are functioning, not just how you're feeling day to day.

Pelvic girdle support

Supporting stability through the front and back of the pelvis as your body adapts — especially noticeable when walking or turning in bed. Pelvic alignment work can make a meaningful difference.

Sciatic nerve function

We look at how your pelvis and nervous system are working together, and support your body directly — not just where you happen to feel it.

Round ligament support

Supporting the uterine ligaments as they stretch to accommodate your growing baby. Reducing tension in the pelvis and surrounding structures helps your body adapt more comfortably.

Rib & mid-back function

As your ribcage expands to make room for your growing uterus, we support the mid-back and ribs — an area that's often overlooked, and almost always responsive to care.

Headaches & neck function

Postural changes during pregnancy often show up first in the upper back and neck. Supporting your spine here can make a real difference in how you feel day to day.

Baby positioning

A balanced pelvis gives a baby the room to move into an optimal position for birth. Webster Technique care is specifically designed to support this.

Rest & recovery

Supporting musculoskeletal comfort so your body can rest well — because good sleep is part of how you and your baby both thrive.

The Webster Technique

The gold standard for
chiropractic care during pregnancy.

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment focused on the sacrum and pelvis. Developed by Dr. Larry Webster and refined through decades of clinical use, it is designed to reduce sacral misalignment and the associated tension in the muscles and ligaments of the pelvis — creating an environment of greater balance and freedom of movement.

When the pelvis is balanced, the uterus and its supporting ligaments can function with less tension. This matters for comfort throughout pregnancy. It also matters for how a baby positions as birth approaches.

Your first visit

What to expect when
you come see us.

We see pregnant patients at every stage of pregnancy, from the first trimester onward. Here's what your first visit looks like.

We start with your story

A thorough, unhurried intake

We want to understand your pregnancy so far — how your body is feeling, what's been difficult, what you're hoping for between now and your birth, and what kind of birth experience you're working toward. That context shapes everything we do.

Then we assess

A full evaluation — modified for pregnancy

We assess your spine, pelvis, and nervous system function with techniques specifically adapted for pregnancy. Nothing we do is uncomfortable or unsafe. If anything feels unexpected, we stop and explain before continuing.

Then we talk

A clear plan you actually understand

You'll leave knowing what we found, what we think it means for your pregnancy and birth preparation, and what care looks like going forward. We build a plan around your goals and your schedule — not a template.

Common questions

What pregnant women
ask us most often.

Yes — and it is specifically safe when provided by a chiropractor trained in prenatal care. We use pregnancy-adapted techniques throughout, including specialty pregnancy pillows on the table so you can lie comfortably face-down without any pressure on your growing belly. The Webster Technique, which we use in every pregnancy case, was developed specifically for pregnant women and has a long track record of safety. Both Dr. Josh and Dr. Jess are Webster Technique certified and ICPA trained.
There is no wrong time to start — and earlier is generally better. Starting in the first trimester allows us to support your body as it makes its most rapid changes, and to establish pelvic balance from the beginning. That said, we see patients starting care at any trimester, including the third trimester when birth preparation becomes the primary focus. Wherever you are in your pregnancy, we'd love to meet you.
Yes — the two work well together. Your OB or midwife monitors your pregnancy and manages the medical side of birth; we focus on how your musculoskeletal and nervous systems are functioning and adapting. Many of our patients are referred to us directly by their midwife, and we're always happy to coordinate with your provider.
This is one of the most common reasons families seek us out in the third trimester. To be clear: we don't turn babies — that's not something chiropractic care does. What we do is balance the pelvis — the bones, muscles, and ligaments — using the Webster Technique, so your baby has the space and freedom to move into whatever position is optimal for birth. We're also working to reduce interference to the nervous system, supporting clear communication between body and brain throughout your pregnancy.
It depends entirely on your unique case — where you are in your pregnancy, what we find in your assessment, and what your goals are. There's no one-size-fits-all schedule; we'll give you an honest, personalized recommendation at your first visit and adjust it as your pregnancy progresses — never more than we think is genuinely helpful.
Yes — completely. Both Dr. Josh and Dr. Jess are Webster Technique certified and CACCP credentialed. Either doctor is fully equipped to provide your pregnancy care from the first trimester through birth preparation. We encourage patients to get to know both doctors over the course of their pregnancy, and many tell us it was one of the best decisions they made — each of us notices different things and brings a different perspective to a case.

When you're ready

Your body already knows
how to do this. Let us help it.

Dr. Josh and Dr. Jess are both accepting new pregnancy patients. Whatever trimester you're in, we'd love to be part of your care team.
